Parents and students living in Beaufort County and BEYOND will soon have a new public school to choose from, Bridges Preparatory School (BPS). With a planned opening of Fall 2013, the BPS Charter Committee has been approved by the South Carolina Public Charter School District to open a Public charter school under state sponsorship. Although BPS will be sponsored by the state district, a positive working relationship with the Beaufort County School District is an important part of the BPS mission to bridge the community.

BPS will be a tuition-free public school and will start K-6. Each year thereafter, one grade will be added to BPS and will ultimately offer grades K-12 with 4 classes per grade. The formation of this public charter school will offer all citizens of Beaufort County and the surrounding communities a public school of choice that promotes an innovative educational environment through a diverse campus, smaller classes, accountability, and student-centered education unique to each child attending BPS. Offering a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) infused curriculum with a unique system of delivery through the Paideia Method.

A K-12 charter school will also allow families to be protected from future rezoning and/or grade reconfiguration resulting in an uninterrupted learning process and strong bonds within the school environment. There will be numerous opportunities to learn more about the curriculum and mission of BPS through community outreach. Please see the schedule of meetings.
